The Art of selling art

I've been slinging paintings since 2000
and just a few sold before that , I remember selling my first works and the excitement it brought ,
I still get that excited for every time one sells

At the same time , I love those paintings a little more just as they sell and help pay the bills

We live in a world where dollars help give you extra breath to get by
without them you can't do what you like or love

So being able to create my own career and have people enjoy my work so much that they purchase my art , always feels like a blessing and I'm grateful for each sale.

I don't think artist should do the classic move where they price their work very high in hopes of finding a stupid rich person buying it because "it's expensive"

the way I started was by doing smaller quicker work and selling it for whatever people were willing to pay

that way you grow as an artist , and your prices grow with them

the more successful you become , the more your work grows in value and you can start getting the prices you once dreamed of getting

The market is strange , with the way our economy went I've seen many artist have to put their brushes away and start doing other jobs to get by.

Fortunately I've hustled very hard during the down times and made sure to keep ahead of the game

Speaking of games I never limited myself to just painting or just selling drawings

There is always a project that I work on , something special that is another goal in my career to help me grow as an artist and also have that extra fire burning
(these projects don't make me any income at first) But I believe in them and work on them because I love it and know they will one day become something amazing

That's why I've been able to have comic books published , my art in books , multiple toy lines sold Internationally , App games for ipad, iphone and ipod just to name a few

I don't have an idol , or someone I want to be like
Just do my own thing and do it my way, that's the only way for me to be happy

Without that happy fun , this wouldn't be the industry for me
SO yeah sometimes I will paint an iconic character (although very rare) But I'll do my spin on it
such as these homeless heros

You'll always not know what to expect next out of the Fink Box

so keep your eyes peeled and enjoy the ride!

Wizard of Oz VS Alice in Wonderland artwork

I've been enjoying creating artwork for the past 12 years based on my favorite stories such as Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland the stories and characters are so iconic in our culture and I think will continue to be strong personalities with
a leading female role
there is something fascinating about these stories and how the girl enters a world of the strange and bizarre   the above 2 works of art are done by my partner, Artist Emi Boz
you can see more of her work at www.EmiBoz.com

and this is my first piece I did based on Alice in wonderland
it's in a much different style then the above Wizard of Oz work I did

and this work above is another I did under my alias name Dr. Krinkles
that creation was done completely on the computer , which gives it a much brighter crisp looking work of art

I hope you enjoy these , there are others
and if you'd like to get a print Signed of any of these
let us know with a comment or email to gusfink@hotmail.com

best n thanks!

Antique Horror Collection to hit "Hot Topic" Stores this August!

For 13 years now I've been painting a series called "Antique Horror collection" I've been collected all over the World and been in several galleries. Now I'm doing something more with it starting this August. A new apparel line will be in over 300 Hot Topic stores mid/late August.
The first line of the series will have a Dress, a SweatShirt and 2 great T-shirts.
I'm very pleased with how good they look and the people I'm working with on them are phenomenal when it comes to apparel.

I'm currently offering different signed prints from this series on my website www.Gusfink.com
